Traditional Japanese Karate
Wado Kai is a style of karate known as Wado-ryu, created by Hironori Otsuka. The name means "way of harmony," and the style blends traditional Okinawan karate with Shindō Yōshin-ryū Jujitsu, focusing on evasive body shifting, balance, and timing to overcome stronger opponents. Wado-ryu focuses on tai sabaki (body management) to evade and redirect attacks rather than meeting force with force, emphasizing speed and precision over raw power. This makes it effective for self-defense and accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels.

Our students are expected to memorize and apply these five basic principles.
